「妄」惡意地，錯誤地；「浪費」花費，揮霍；「宴樂」快樂，享樂(原文與1節的『私慾』同字)。
祈求是一種藝術，要好好地學習。雅各告訴我們有兩種妄求，錯誤祈求。一是無意義和無價值的；二是純為個人的享樂。不錯，能享樂是神所賜的，也是一件好事，但過分毫無節制的享樂卻是不該。若我們只重視無聊無意義的享樂，怎會帶來豐盛人生？這更是有違主來的本意，充滿愛的神又怎會垂聽我們的祈求？

如何作有意義的祈求？
1.放下
將自己的憂慮逐一告訴神，神就賜給我們出人意外的平安。
2.必需
求神賜给我們必需的東西。
3.求饒
常反省，真誠地向神認罪悔改，求神赦免。
4.得勝
求神賜我們力量勝過一切的試探和經得起神所給的考驗，從此茁壯成長。
5.榮耀
按神旨意，不斷祈求榮神益人的事。
